Welcome to the National Auxiliary website! As a new year begins and we look ahead to the plans in place for 2011-2012 we must look to the past which has brought us to where we are now.
To that effect, we have chosen to celebrate and honor 80 years of volunteerism with the theme “A Legacy of Service.” Since it’s inception in 1932, hundreds of women have selflessly given their time and efforts into what is now known as the National Auxiliary.
Highlights in our history:
1932- The first organizational meeting is held of the Woman’s Auxiliary. “Chapters” are formed.
1938- The first issue of the Auxiliary News is printed
1958- DUO (Do Unto Others) is established
1967- An Apple A Day 1 cookbook is printed
1971- The JMA (Junior Medical Auxiliary) and the RMA (Resident Medical Auxiliary) are organized
1978-The Life Endowment Fund is established
1983- An Apple A Day II is printed
1984- The Student Assistance Fund is begun
1987- The Scholarship Fund and Life Endowment Funds are begun
1991- The Tree of Angels graces the lobby of LLUMC for the first time
1992- The Woman’s Auxiliary changed its name to the “National Auxiliary to the Alumni Association of the Loma Linda University School of Medicine.”
2009- An Apple A Day III is printed
Throughout the years the National Auxiliary has remained true to it’s founding mission: “not only for the association of friends, but to work for a cause…to help those in need…and to foster a spirit of loyalty and fraternity to all graduates of our school,” to quote the women of 1932. It is our fervent wish to honor those selfless efforts by upholding the practices and traditions for future generations. We ask for your prayers, feedback, and continued support as we honor the work of the legacy that is the National Auxiliary.
